How Was Global Expansion, Inc. (d.b.a. JobSearchCoaching,net) Started?

From Goldman Sachs to Global Entrepreneur to Global Job Search Coach

It all started long ago in 1984 after Ken Zwerdling (Founder and CEO) of Global Expansion, Inc. (d.b.a. Job Search Coaching.net) graduated from the State University of New York. He came back to live at his family’s home in Oceanside, Long Island (NY).  At the time, there were no personal computers, no LinkedIn, and no internet. During his years in college, Ken only had typing rooms where he would go with reams of typing paper and correction fluid. When he returned home with a degree in Business Administration along with a minor in Economics, he had to find a job the hard way by “Pounding the Pavement”.  After 3 months, he landed a job at Goldman Sachs and Co. as a Travel and Entertainment Accountant secured through the classifieds of the New York Times newspaper. Ken was paid $12,000 per year and had to take 2 trains and a subway each day, every day, just to get to his office on Wall Street.

Fast forward 40 years, a long Corporate Career, along with founding and starting 4 companies (3 global ones), Global Expansion, Inc. was started 7 years ago after running a Global Staffing and Recruiting firm servicing the Global 1000, placing candidates all around the world. Companies were our clients.

At the time, there were so many staffing and recruiting firms working for companies trying to find and source candidates to fill open positions.  However, there were very few companies working with job seekers, trying to help them find new roles, all around the world.  What job seekers really needed was a company that had a deep understanding of the modern global job market and a thorough grasp of the challenges executives faced when looking for a new job. 

They needed help with a full suite of job search services including resume and LinkedIn profile optimization, job board registrations, creating daily job opening alerts, managing the day-to-day activities of their job search, and providing hands-on coaching for interviews and salary negotiations. in 2025, senior level executives need extensive guidance in understanding today's job search technology, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how both companies and job seekers can effectively use them. 

The company’s turning point came when it changed from a resume writing, job board setup, and LinkedIn profile optimization firm, to a trusted Job Search Advisor providing Success Fee based Global Job Search and Executive Career Coaching services.  Other than charging a small initial fee, the company evolved into a Success based firm.  If we find our clients a new job, we earn a success fee.  If not, no fees are paid.

Our clients currently work for and secure roles in some of the top companies around the world in technology, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, government, non-profit, aviation and aerospace, hospitality, higher education, defense, construction and engineering, and Private Equity.  Initially our clients were in the $75K - $100K range.  Now they are in the $150K - $500K range with total compensation in some cases exceeding $1M. 

A successful job search requires so many pieces working together, thinking 3-chess moves ahead along with having someone counsel executives during periods of economic uncertainty, financial stress, geo-political upheaval, rejection, fear, and staying motivated.

We know more about both US and Global Job Search than almost any other company including as a job seeker, hiring manager, and recruiter.  Firms like Challenger Gray, Right Management, and Lee Hecht Harrison really only provide cursory assistance.  What job seekers really need is job search assistance from beginning to end, managing all the day-day activity and moving parts over the life of an executives job search.
